James Conroy (Amazon)
I had the privilege of reading this novel in manuscript form prior to publication and couldn’t wait to get my formal copy to share with friends and relatives. A family saga of challenges, tragedies, and ultimately triumphs is intertwined with an action-packed mystery/conspiracy plot that keeps the pages turning right to the end. Sam Selvaggio’s characterizations are finely tuned and deftly evoke the 1940s era with its jazz music, jive talk, World War II prevalence and, yes, the pervasive prejudices and corruptions surrounding the community of Harlem in that decade. As we follow the three protagonists; Nate, Billy, and Cash, the author draws us into a scenario where loyalties are tested to the limit and each man relies on their ingrained family values to reach deep into themselves in order to surmount the oppressive odds against them. As the episodes unfold the reader is moved to tears, prompted to laugh, and finally has to cheer as their combined fortitude manifests itself in Yehoodi to save their community. This novel will satisfy history buffs and action/adventure fans alike. I highly recommend it and hope to see more from Sam Selvaggio.

Sam has an amazing way of weaving in and out of the lives of 3 boys growing up in Harlem in the 40s, when racism was common place and pervasive. Take the journey as Cash, Nate and Billy grow up, enlist in a white man’s army and despite prejudices and bigotry, excel to be one American hero’s. Post-war their struggles don’t stop as corrupt police and Nazi supporters infiltrate Harlem in an effort to eradicate all non- white people.
Read this book and take the journey. This is one of the most exciting books I’ve had the pleasure of reading. As a lawyer who reads law journals and case studies for a living, this was a phenomenal distraction from life and a true pleasure.
I am looking forward to the 2nd book in the author’s trilogy series. In the meantime, I’ll read Yeehodi. I’m sure it’ll be equally as exciting the second time around.

Sam’s writing is exceptional. This book kept me engaged and on edge from the start to the very end. Fiction is not always my first choice off of the shelf. It really needs to paint an image in my mind to continue to read on… This book played like a movie as I kept reading. I truly could not put it down. I can’t wait to see the motion picture of Yehoodi in theatres someday! Wonderful read and story.
